CASA Day at the Capitol 2025: A Powerful Voice for Michigan’s Children
On April 16, 2025, the halls of Michigan’s Capitol echoed with a shared purpose: giving a voice to children in foster care. Michigan CASA’s annual Day at the Capitol brought together passionate volunteers, staff, and board members from across the state to meet with legislators, express gratitude for their support, and advocate for continued funding to support this vital work.
Each year, this day serves as both a celebration and a call to action. Local CASA programs, united under Michigan CASA, engage directly with lawmakers to highlight the life-changing impact of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). These volunteers are appointed by family court judges to serve as the consistent, caring voice for children navigating the complexities of the foster care and court systems. Their work is supported by a team of professionals and rooted in rigorous, specialized training.
This year’s Day at the Capitol was a reminder of the strength and dedication behind Michigan CASA’s mission. Advocates shared real stories, data, and heartfelt appeals to ensure continued investment in CASA programs throughout the state. Their message was clear: children in foster care deserve to be seen, heard, and supported—and Michigan CASA is leading the way.
Michigan CASA doesn’t just support children on an individual level; it also works tirelessly to drive policy reforms that improve the broader child welfare system. By fostering partnerships with lawmakers and child welfare professionals, Michigan CASA continues to shape a future where every child can grow up in a safe, supportive environment.
As the 2025-26 state budget is developed, we are hopeful that our legislators will continue to champion the needs of Michigan’s most vulnerable children by securing essential funding for CASA programs.
If you have room in your heart to change the life of an abused or neglected child, we invite you to join us. Whether as a volunteer, donor, or advocate, there’s a place for you in the Michigan CASA network.
